Happy New Year

The Road Ahead

It's that time again. The fireworks are popping off and so is 2006. I don't pretend to know what 2007 will bring to everyone but I sincerely hope its a smooth road ahead.

Maybe it will be a suprising year in which rich celebrities grow a conscience and begin not lending their name to companies using sweatshops and child labour? The end to unfulfilling conspicous consumption. As we all realise it can't fill the whole in us.

Maybe it will be the year people really do pay more than lip service to ethical and environmentaly sound behaviour? Getting our fat arses out of our Chelsea tractors and walking.

Maybe it will be the year we don't obsess about overpaid footballers vapid popstars? The year we recognise acheivement rather than empty fame for it's own sake?

Maybe it'll just stay the same and we can all go to hell in a handcart?

I think big changes are happening deep in the collective human psyche. There is lots of evidence. (The web itself being one bit of that.)
I'm sure all those other things will follow.

I only hope you're right Eolake but as my cynisism regarding peoples philanthropy plumbs new depths I'm not so sure ;o)
